My Soulful Morning Time

small pickmonkey-nature-morning-grass-plants-flowersI love to start out my day on the right foot. It’s so much easier to maintain a positive vibration of peace and harmony when I begin my day in that space. As a hypnotherapist and life coach, I know first-hand the power of the mind and how thoughts create reality. It can be a challenge to start the day happy when you’re used to jumping out of bed and rushing through the morning. It’s also very easy for me to pick up the stress of yesterday if I went to bed in a stressful space. To combat this and get myself in a feel good vibe, here are 4 things I do first thing in the morning:

  1. The moment I realize I’m awake and it’s a new day I give myself permission to cozy up for a few extra minutes, appreciating my bed and soft warm covers. I give thanks for this new day, that I get to be here on earth for yet another day to live and breathe. I acknowledge my heart beat all night long and my lungs breathed without my attention to them. I love Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” I find this uplifting. While this may not work for everyone, what do you find to be uplifting? The point here is to try to set ourselves up for success each and every morning by feeling good and thinking positive before our feet hit the floor.
  2. I get up and make myself coffee, then move myself to the couch to wake up gently and set positive intentions for the day. If there is anything that is stressing me out I go down the list of responsibilities and release them up to the Universe or a higher power. Feeling the release of the issue, giving it over to a higher source is a trust practice I find to be invaluable for cultivating inner peace. This is a daily practice in letting go that helps me from letting stress pile up or get shoved under the rug.
  3. I meditate for a few minutes, centering myself in the day and then finish with a positive prayer, thanking God for whatever I need or desire for that day. Meditation fills me with inner peace and appreciation, providing me with more patience and peace in my day. Having frequent communication with God and the Universe is a powerful tool for lessening burdens and responsibilities as well as releasing control and increasing trust.
  4. I love to listen to uplifting audio recordings. Having a very open mind, my choices range for Joel Osteen to Abraham Hicks, depending on what I’m needing inspiration on that day. I do this while I get ready for my day and I look forward to it each and every morning. Filling up on inspiration and motivational words first thing in the morning instead of conflicts and news, not only build us up, but sets up a positive mindset to carry us through the day.

For someone who has children or needs to be up and going very early, this might look different for you. Instead of taking an hour or two for you in the morning, you may only carve out 10 minutes. Or, perhaps it’s most feasible to do this around lunch time or in the evening after a workout or before bed. Adapting soulful time to your lifestyle is essential for success. A happy soul is a blessed soul.
